Lisa M. Usry

Prior to joining with partners Andy Taggart and Jeff Rimes, Lisa Usry was law partners with Jeff Rimes in a private law practice. Prior to being in private practice, Lisa worked for one of the state’s largest law firms for seven years where, as a member of the Commercial Department, she handled numerous high-stakes commercial and real estate transactions.

Lisa Usry received her Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in English, her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree, cum laude, in Accounting, and her Master of Business Administration degree, magna cum laude, from Mississippi College. She earned her law degree, magna cum laude, from the Mississippi College School of Law, where she served on the Board of the Mississippi College Law Review as Executive Editor and graduated in the top ten of her class. Lisa currently serves on the Alumni Advisory Board to the Mississippi College School of Business.

Lisa has handled a wide range of commercial transactions, including the formation, management structure, and capitalization of closely-held corporations and limited liability companies; purchase and sale of commercial and residential real estate; commercial and residential loan transactions; mergers and acquisitions, including stock and asset transactions; retail and commercial leasing transactions; and general corporate and contract matters. Lisa also has experience in probate matters and in estate planning, including the drafting of wills and creation of trusts and family limited partnerships.

Lisa has managed commercial transactions for a number of entrepreneurs and small business entities, as well as for local county governments. Lisa has also represented and handled commercial transactions for a variety of large Mississippi and regional businesses with multi-million dollar revenue streams, including car dealerships, chemical supply companies, fast food restaurants, full-service restaurants, hospitals and other primary care providers, hunting supply companies, low-income housing developments, real estate development companies, recycled and scrap metal companies, retail clothing companies, and timber investment companies.

Lisa was selected by Super Lawyers® as a 2009 Super Lawyers–Rising Star in the state of Mississippi in the areas of Mergers and Acquisitions, Real Estate, and Business/Corporate Law. Only 7.5% of the lawyers in the state were selected as a Super Lawyer or a Rising Star.

Lisa has received a BV® Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell. A BV® Peer Review Rating is the maximum rating a lawyer can receive who has been admitted to the bar for less than ten years and is a rating which indicates high to very high legal abilities and very high ethical standards.

Lisa and her husband, Trey Usry, have two children, and they reside in Madison, Mississippi, where they are members of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
